|
AIS is not currently offering an internship program. If an interest arises in the future, we may bring the program back. Please use this page as a resource. Welcome to the Career Development Internship Program. (Updated: November 1, 2007) Career Development Internship Q and A Q: What might I gain from an Internship? A: Internships are temporary employment that allow you to try out a new field or career direction. They allow you to gain, in a expedited time frame, the real-work experience that you need to be competitive. Q: Is there financial compensation? A: Yes, the amount will vary. We encourage Interns to request compensation equal to the stipend or salary that they are currently earning. Q: How long are the Internships? A: We suggest that an Internship last between 1 and 6 months. Full or part-time schedules are agreed between the Intern and the Employer, however, to get the most out of your internship, we encourage full time work as opposed to a part time. Q: Why full time? A: Immersion is the best way to test out a new lifestyle. Q: Where can I find an employer who wants an Intern? A: Coming in early December, AIS will have a website where potential interns and employers can view one another's profiles and contact information. Q: What if I have a company in mind and they don't have a profile on the site? A: AIS encourages approaching any employer that you desire to work with. Q: How do I write my resume for an Internship? A: On November 14th, AIS is holding an Intern prep course with Tom Miller from Emerging Medical Technologies, Inc. This workshop will help everyone prepare a winning resume. Q: Will I be hired permanently after my Internship? A: The possibility of further employment is between the Intern and the Employer. Q: I'm a student. Can I take time off for an Internship?
